I was able to save money by using items I had on hand as much as possible. Facebook Marketplace and Buy Nothing groups were the first place I looked for anything I didn’t already have. I used budget friendly DIY solutions everywhere I could. When buying things at the stores I shopped sales and used online coupons whenever available.
My true total may actually be a little less than what I put above because the listed prices don’t reflect all of the 10-20% off coupons I used. Sometimes it’s worth it to sign up for promotional emails to get the discounts!
I also sold the medicine cabinet that was previously hanging above the toilet for $50 and the old mirror unit for another $50 through Facebook Marketplace. Those sales could technically be counted against the amount I spent too!
Now to see if my budget friendly solutions like the painted the floor and epoxy covered counter, sink and tub surround hold up through the wear and tear of regular use by a busy family of 5!

All in all it was a great experience! I’m so glad I decided to participate in the Spring One Room Challenge as it was a great motivator to get through refreshing this room.
I wasn’t on Instagram and Facebook stories as much as I hoped to be but it is difficult to get stuff done and record it all along the way. So much respect to everyone who shares their DIY process and make it look so effortless. Respect.
I’ve saved everything I did manage to share in my ORC highlight on my Instagram page if you’d like to see how I progressed! It was slow moving since I could only really work on it when the 3 little munchkins were sleeping but we got it done!
Now I can’t wait to enjoy a hot bath and a well deserved glass of wine.
Cheers,
Lydia

It really is spa like with all of the wood elements and warm whites. Still can’t believe the transformation! Bring on all the bubble baths and wine!

Looks SO good Lydia! I absolutely love the wood shelf overlapping the mirror. And the floor – oh that beautiful, perfect, interesting but not loud, shade of blue. I still can’t believe you pulled off stenciling a floor while raising three tiny ones – but if anyone could do it, it’s you!

Thanks Veronica!! Remember how crazy it sounded when I first mentioned painting the floor? We’ll see how it holds up but I’m so happy with it! Getting it done was an exercise in patience but so worth it!
